Feedback from a Blues-loving guitarist
After a first listening to this album In my Mind, I confirm my first words:
The sound is very good ! It's more energetic than the first but absolutely not Rock. Personally I find it more successful.
My humble opinion is that the titles are linked together well and that we find ourselves quite quickly at the last one having had a good time, on an original note and after having approached several variants of the Blues.
My preferences go to I 90 WEST (for me the most catchy), BOOGiE IN THE DARK (nice surprise this one!) SOMEWHERE ON THIS LIFE (I find a little FEAR OF NOTHING BLUES side to it at times), BLACK HAWK (for its originality) and GIVE ME WHAT I WANT. (...)
KRISS CLEM.

A new album for Maurice John Vaughn
Our friend Maurice John Vaughn joined forces with two notorious Chicago blues names, John Watkins (vocal guitar) and Freddie Dixon (vocal bass) to release a double CD under his own label “Reecy records”.
"3 by 3" by Dixon, Watkins, Vaughn alternates covers of songs by each of them and other artists. We also hear with happiness the Chicago shuffle of Tim Taylor "the drumming engine" which packs everything in the often festive blues of these three. Even if ballads and funky are not forgotten. Sometimes, to the three voices of these gentlemen is added that of their friend Shirley Johnson who reminds us that the feminine has all its importance in the male blues!
In addition, a harmonica and some brass are also invited on certain pieces, enough to plunge back into the good old days ..., with an orchestration and a sound of course modern.
As for MJV (vocals, guitar, piano, sax), we can always guess his so nice and unique way of interpreting. And here we go again for "Got to be funky"! My favorite track (wink).
Bluesy Pascale (One Zee's drummer).
